Caterpillars day

The Caterpillars Day

Monday - Thursday we run separate morning and afternoon sessions as well as all day sessions, with the option of lunch club. Fridays we run just one extended session 9am-1pm.
Mon - Thurs Mornings
9:00
Arrival & free play.
We are an all weather preschool so a warm coat in winter and sunhats in summer are a must!

9:15
A group of children are invited outside to our enclosed dedicated garden area. This enables the keyworkers some quieter time with your little one to play and help them progress on their next steps.
Generally the groups are split by age and development, but if your child has made a special friend we try and keep them together.

10:00
Snack café opens. The children wash their hands sit with their friends to enjoy snack. They can drink from their own drink bottle or have a cup of milk to accompany the fresh and dry option available each snack time, our aim is for children to experience a variety of smells, textures and taste with no pressure to eat anything they don't want to.

10:15
Nappies are checked and changed. Of course if we have a code brown situation it is changed immediately, or if we notice that a child has a large wet nappy. However, we ensure we check all nappies at this time.

10:45
The children swap over so that everyone gets a turn in the garden. In the warmer weather the group splits may be garden/park in the first split to avoid the children being out in the hotter part of the morning.

11:25
Tidy up time. As with all aspects of life, fun can be messy, but tidying up doesn't have to be boring! We sing our tidy up song and encourage the children to put toys back where they belong. This is also a great way for them to strengthen their cognitive abilities; memory, linking objects and will also encourage them to tidy as they go.

11:30
Story & singing. Children who are leaving at 11:45 join together in reception for a story, singing and ring games.
