Welcome to

Kennet Valley Caterpillars

Kennet Valley Caterpillars is a community inspired preschool in the heart of Fords Farm offering term time care for children from 2-5 years old. Our children join us not just from the local area, but surrounding areas too. We celebrate all cultures, religions and backgrounds - everyone is welcome and we look forward to meeting you!

“Play is the highest form of research.”

 Albert Einstein

Young children have lively minds from the start. We strive to make the most of this natural quality by enabling them to experience, investigate, care about others, interact, develop and create. We endeavour to deepen and strengthen children’s natural abilities by providing them with the healthiest environment possible. Our experienced and passionate team plan activities based on the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) to aid all children in reaching their full potential.

Caring for your children as if they were our own

Every day our staff will look after your children with all the care and respect as if they were our own children. Our focus is to provide a warm, safe and happy environment for them to learn through play, become confident and independent ready for the transition to primary school.

We provide feedback to our families via termly parents evenings, our parents WhatsApp group, Famly (our online development platform) and of course, face to face at pick up/drop off. Our staff are always on hand to help with questions or concerns you have. We offer flexible contact options - phone calls, text messages and private face to face meetings - to ensure you feel confident your children are receiving the best possible care.

How it works

  • 1. Visit our preschool

To visit our preschool, please call or email us to arrange a time.

    Phone 07824 888 197

    Email contact@kennetvalleycaterpillars.co.uk

  • 2. Register your child

Visit our enrolment page to register your child, you may register them from their first birthday.

(If your child is not starting the following term a registration fee of £10 will be required to add your child to our waiting list)

  • 3. Enrol with us

The term before your little one is due to start with us we will invite you in to fill out the enrolment paperwork, parents fill out the paperwork in reception and we invite your child to the hall with us.

Once the forms are complete, an enrolment fee of £25 secures the sessions for your child and we book in settling in sessions.

  • 4. Settling in sessions

Settling in sessions are arranged for the first week of term, initially starting with half an hour, increasing to one hour, then 2, then a full session.

We go at your child's pace, some children need 2 weeks of settling in sessions, others walk in the first day as if they've been there their whole lives.

  • 5. Have fun!

After the settling in sessions your child will join us on their arranged days and you can relax knowing your child is having the time of their lives with our fully qualified (and super fun!) team.
